Robin Kinnie professional background is geared towards assisting small business owners with access to technical assistance, capital funding and training. Robin has more than 12 years of experience helping small businesses grow and has a Bachelors’ Degree – Human Resource Management, Masters’ Degree – Higher Education Administration from Michigan State University. She also is a Certified Business Consultant by the Michigan Small Business Development Centers. Robin has been recognized by Walker’s Legacy as part of the ‘Top 25 Women Leading in the Detroit Community’, The Association for Women in Communications – Detroit Chapter and named a Diversity Business Leader Award from Corp! Magazine, among other distinctions. She was recently honored to receive a Proclamation from Mayor Kelly Garrett, Mayor of Lathrup Village.
Robin founded Motor City Woman Studios which is committed to amplifying the voices of women in front of the microphone and increasing the number of women the audio engineering profession. Motor City Woman operates a 24/7 internet radio station featuring an all-female line-up of show hosts. Additionally, Motor City Woman is an active supporter of community programs, initiatives and events that seek to inspire, motivate and inform women.
Robin also serves as the Detroit Chapter Head of Soundgirls.org, a national organization focused on increasing the number of women audio engineers. SoundGirls.Org exists to provide a support network for women working in the professional audio industry and to assist those with a drive to be successful in audio engineering. Therefore, Robin not only concentrates on representation of women behind the microphone but, also behind the audio board. Her service for others extends to volunteering as an Advisory Board Member for Y Arts, the arts and humanities branch of the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit.
